Whilest I am a goon I hope to be as unbaised as possible:
I'm really rather tired of all the drama that has erupted over this incident. I will not argue for either side although it is clear where my allegiace lies. It was a distasteful joke I suppose, but it was not meant to truly be a joke as I see it.
My understanding of the signature is that it alluded to the fact that BoB and those associated with them continuously use the death of their fallen comrade as a martyr of sorts to launch all sort of hatred and speculation. Hence the bandwagon.
Smoskes' death was a loss to all players in EVE, as I am sure he was probably a nice guy to meet and I'm sorry I did not have the pleasure.
But to use ONE inccident to cite a reason to eradicate goons because we are 'not of the EVE community' has fallacy throughout.
We may be of a a separate origin but myself, as well as many others played EVE long before there was GoonFleet. I think it was a thread on SA that just made it apparent that HAY! This game called EVE is cool and a lot of other SA members play it, so let's get together. This does not make us any different from anyone else who told a friend about the game and suggested they sign up.
One goon, or even 10 goons are not an accurate resentation of our community as we are thousands strong.
The smoske issue needs to be put to rest. It's as if he is the Jesus of EVE and that the Goons are the jews that killed him. I have a question for BOB, if you can't be prejudiced to the Jews for killing Jesus so what logic does it have to call for the entire EVE community to alienate GoonSwarm, made up of EVE players from many different communities, countries, lifestyles, and even of difected members of Corps. from EVE past.
I don't hope to accomplish anything from this. I just offer a perspective of a really stupid escalation of a really stupid act. I don't call for BOB's calling off the threat of war. In fact, I welcome it. War is what makes EVE fun. Drama is not. However, I don't think the result will be in BoB's favor. When this is over and done, whether the goons are still around or not, BoB will have alienated themselves from this community of good people come together to do one thing: To play a goddamned game. I just ask that BoB no longer solicit the hatred of others throughout EVE by dragging our name through the dirt and making the experience of EVE unenjoyable for those that have to sit and watch this situation get uglier.
